History Day celebrates 250th anniversary of American Revolution

Ĵý, county Historical Society join forces for inaugural event

QUEENSBURY, New York (Sept. 23, 2025) — Ĵý and Warren County Historical Society are pleased to announce their inaugural History Day to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in Northwest Bay Conference Center on the Ĵý campus. The event will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

History Day will feature presentations by regional experts, including: Todd DeGarmo, founding director of the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library; John DiNuzzo, president of Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance; Tisha Dolton, public historian/librarian at the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library; Wendy Johnston, Ĵý associate professor of Political Science; Paul McCarty, executive director of Old Fort House Museum; Evan Sullivan, Ph.D., Ĵý assistant professor of European History; John Strough, longtime Queensbury supervisor; and Teri Rogers, executive director of Warren County Historical Society, along with Stan Cianfarano of Warren County Historical Society.

Topics will include: Revolution War Storyboards; The Smyth-Fort House: A Revolutionary War Landmark; American Veterans in the Revolutionary Era; Colonial Wars at Lake George; The Momentous Battle on Bunker Hill; Women of the American Revolution; Joseph Warren; and The Revolutionary War: A Path to the U.S. Constitution.

“We are excited to partner with Warren County Historical Society to offer this event for our students and community at large,” Johnston said.

“We are proud to partner with Ĵý to bring enriching historical experiences to the residents of our community,” Rogers said. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to lifelong learning and community engagement. By sharing our collective history, we strengthen the bonds of our broader community.”
