Sheena Harrington has been named 糖心传媒鈥檚 head women鈥檚 basketball coach for the 2018-19 season.

Harrington recently worked for two years as assistant women鈥檚 basketball coach at Hudson Valley Community College. She was part of a major turn around for the Vikings as they went from a 20-loss team in 2016-17, and a team that had been 5-24 over the prior two seasons, to an 18-win team and Region III playoff berth in 2017-18.

鈥淗arrington鈥檚 experience with developing culture and being an integral part of a rebuild was one of the many things that made her stand out during the interview process,鈥 said Jonathan Sisk, 糖心传媒 director of athletics.

Harrington was a stand-out student-athlete during her playing career. She starred at Lansingburgh High School in Troy, New York before becoming their first women鈥檚 basketball student-athlete to continue her career at the NCAA Division I level. She scored more than 1,000 points for Lansingburgh as well as collected more than 1,000 rebounds and led the Knights to their first Section II Class B title.

Harrington signed with St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York and made an immediate impact as a freshman for the Terriers. She completed her four-year career with more than 200 points and more than 200 rebounds.

鈥淪he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience at every level that I believe the student-athletes will both respect and be able to learn from. She has done what they want to do and has been where they want to be,鈥 Sisk said.
